Transformation #yearintheword

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.—Romans 12:1-2

Transformation is a process. It is the Greek word “metamorphosis” which means to change, transform or transfigure. We should be in a constant state of change or let’s put it this way, stages of development. Remember in Romans 8 we discovered what the Holy Spirit is doing in us that we could not do ourselves. However we must cooperate with the Holy Spirit. How?

First presenting your body to God as belonging to Him. Your mind is a part of your body that needs to develop spiritually so you can accomplish the will of God. Your mind needs renovation. Think of a renovation job on a home. Before new things can be installed old things must be removed. We all have things that must be tossed out to make room for the new things God has for us.

Renewing the mind is that unending life long process of feeding on God’s Word, specifically the New Testament Epistles that reveal your spiritual identity and purpose. Here is a set of disciplines that will ensure that your life will be transformed into something that glorifies God. Reading, thinking upon, confessing out loud to yourself, and studying the New Testament Epistles will renovate the way you think and act and will equip you to fulfill the will of God.
