Demonstrating Jesus #yearintheword

And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God… Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.—1 Corinthians 2:4-5,12

What are key indicators that the Spirit of God is moving in your life? He demonstrates and reveals the living Jesus! Read the Gospels and you see the Spirit of God demonstrating through Jesus the Father’s love. Physical healing and provisional miracles were signs of God’s love to a broken world. Chains of sin and bondage were broken off of individual lives by the Master’s touch. Jesus spoke with such wisdom and authority that the people marveled, multitudes followed Him.

The Spirit of God wants to move through the Church just like it did in Jesus life. In fact everything Jesus said and did was recorded in the Gospels as a pattern for us to follow. We have received the very same Spirit that was upon Jesus when He ministered for 3 1/2 years. What was the secret that enabled Jesus to reveal and demonstrate the Father’s love to His generation?

The secret is yielding. Every day Jesus yielded to the Spirit of God through prayer. Before the sun rose He prayed. In the middle of the night He prayed. In the midst of great ministry demands He withdrew from the crowds and prayed. In the personal tests of His life He prayed. If we are going to be a demonstration and a revelation of the living Jesus to our generation then we must yield, we must pray and allow the Spirit of God to move!
