We all need Comfort #yearintheword

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.—2 Corinthians 1:3-4

God our Father has not left us to fend for ourselves as His dear children. He sent the wonderful Comforter, the Holy Spirit. Remember Jesus words of instruction to the disciples at the last supper regarding the Holy Spirit. (John 14-16). Those instructions on prayer and the ministry of the Holy Spirit are the most important instructions He left us. Without the help of the Holy Spirit we could not accomplish His plan for our lives.

We have an adversary who is the author of trouble, testing and trials. Don’t be deceived into thinking that your Father in heaven is designing trouble for you. No, no, no! He is in your corner as you fight your battles and engage in your struggles. He is merciful, meaning His heart toward you is one of compassion, wanting to relieve you from pain and suffering. He also knows how to comfort us by reminding us of His promises and assuring us of a favorable outcome by the witness of His Spirit.

God also wants to use us to comfort others in their time of trouble. We do this very much the same way God does us. We get in someone’s corner and we encourage them with the promise of God. Our presence in there life brings strength and comfort as well because Jesus said where there are two or more in my Name I am in their midst. If you find yourself in a season of testing rely on the comfort of the Spirit and reach out to someone else who is in the test and comfort them just like the Father does you!
