Back to Basics: The Gospel

The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ-He is Lord of all, that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.—Acts 10:36-38 NKJV

We should never lose sight of the simplicity of the gospel, it can be summed up by the words of Peter as he preached on the day of Pentecost. God preached peace to the children of Israel through His Son Jesus Christ. Read the Gospels and you will find Jesus demonstrated the love of God to us by forgiving sins and healing sick bodies. God’s disposition toward our world today is one of reconciliation, He is gracious and long-suffering waiting for people to turn their hearts to Jesus.

The message of the Gospel has not changed. Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever. He still forgive sins and He still heals sick bodies. In fact He has commissioned us as believers to preach the forgiveness of sins and to minister healing to the sick to our generation. You and I as believers carry the greatest message ever known to mankind—the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.—2 Corinthians 5:18-19 NKJV

Take time to read the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke which is the public side of His life and ministry and pay close attention how Jesus forgave and healed sinners! The Gospel has not changed it just has changed hands! May our message be clear to the world—forgiveness and healing can be found in Jesus alone!
